Meidum:  Oil

Size:  24 x 36

This was the 2nd piece I did on Burlap, which I stretched myself and sealed it with gesso with blue tint.  I didn't attempt to fill in all the openings in the burlap, so you can see through the painting throughout the painting.  The roughness of the burlap gives it a different look.

Title:  Tunnel Road

Medium: Relief Piece w/oil

Size:  36 x 30

I did this piece for entry into a 3D show.  Haven't done a sculpture or any type of 3D work since High School.  I chose to do the tunnel located on Tunnel Rd. in Vernon, CT.  Used Spackle compound with a plywood back with metal fence material to create the depth.  The larger trees were created with dowel and the same metal material.  The fence and the steps were created by cutting up tomato stakes.  The trees extended over the top of the piece.  The piece was then painted with oil paints.

Title: Navajo Missionary

Medium:  Oil

Size:  20 x 24

Recently did a Native American Navajo in pastels from a photo that I took at the Navajo Visitor Center in Utah.  I also took a photo of a visiting missionary.  This painting was created using that photo.  I used a pallet knife and was very loose in my composition.  I wanted to capture the essence without the detail.  Up  close you would be hard pressed to see the face, but it comes into focus as you move back.  The orange/red colors were used due to the Navajo Sand Stone that is prevalent in this area.

This piece received a 1st Place award with the National Arts Program in Hartford, CT 2014.  It has also been juried into the Wethersfield Fine Art Show and the Piedmont Art Show.

Title: Portsmouth Lighthouse

 Medium:  Oil

 Size;  16 x 20

Title:  Tuscany Landscape

Medium:  Oil

Size:  14 x 18

This was the third painting to be attempted.  It was a view of the vineyards the area overlooked was a row of grape vines directly in front of me.  It took two days to capture.  At one point I was looking at the view and the painting and was lost as to what I was looking at and what I was painting.  Recovered after a few minutes.

Title:  Flowers on a Wall

Medium:  Oil

Size:  14 x 18

This was the fourth and final piece done in Italy.  This was the view of our room from the pool area at the villa.  The painting was started first thing in the morning on a foggy day, but after a couple of hours the sun came out and it heated up.  I had a small zipper on my a pocket of my shorts and every time I rested my hand on my lap I burned my wrist the zipper was so hot.
